MANUAL K9 BYPASS

The method to disable/bypass K9 might take a while for some users, but it's relatively simple and works flawlessly.

1. Get a K9 licence from the Blue Coat website (http://www1.k9webprotection.com/getk9/index.php)
2. Download the K9 software (http://www1.k9webprotection.com/getk9/download-software.php). Do not run/install it just yet - that will come later.
3. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to bring up the task manager.
4. In the 'Processes' tab, find 'k9filter.exe'. Select and, and then click 'End Process'.
5. Go to the folder containing the K9 folder (usually, C:\Program Files\).
6. Rename the K9 folder to a different name or move it to a different location. You need to do step 4 for this to work properly.
7. Now, install the K9 you downloaded using the licence you received. Enter a name and password, and choose the categories you wish to block (if any).
8. Done! Now you can browse the internet freely.

Note: To restore the original installation, delete your new installation and rename the old folder back to what is originally was.

Another way to do this is to:

Go to "my computer", and go to your hard drive (its probably the "C" drive). Next, go to the folder called "windows". After that, go to the folder called "System32". You should find another folder called "drivers". Finally, find "bckd.sys". Once you do that MOVE IT and DO NOT DELETE IT. Make sure to move it somewhere you can remember. Once this is finished you can restart your computer and k9 will be ineffective. If you want it to be effective again, just move bckd.sys back to the "drivers" folder and restart your computer again. K9 should be working again.
